About Me

Emily Konicki

Welcome! My name is Emily and I hope I get the pleasure of meeting you one day. I currently live in South Florida where I work full-time as a therapist and as an administrative executive. I initially grew up in Georgia and moved to Florida in 2015 to attend college, which is where I have been ever since. I grew up in a military, service-oriented family where I found my roots of deep compassion and empathy for others. I am an avid pet lover, bookworm, and I am always excited to travel.

My goal for starting Healing Space Therapy was to provide a welcoming and comforting space for others to process life’s challenges. I don’t know about you, but these challenges appear to be occurring more frequently and a lot stronger lately. It is so easy to feel frustrated with others who are not understanding these trends or who may not be experiencing it themselves.

I often feel the need to connect with someone on a deeper level who would really hear what I was saying, without them sharing anything personal in return. My hope is that you will be able to connect with me in the same way. I want you to feel supported and heard in our sessions, especially if you do not have that outside of sessions.

Therapy is hard and you need to be able to have trust in the person you reach out to. I am always open to feedback and willing to work hard to build your trust throughout this process. I hope that we can speak soon so that I can hear a bit more about your experiences and what support you are seeking!

Background

I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida and am in my third (and hopefully final) year of my doctorate degree. Let’s just say that I have been in school for a LONG time so I completely understand the experience and stress!!

I enjoy helping individuals and families navigate current life stressors or challenges, such as parental divorce, changing schools, studying for a stressful exam, and so on. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, but particularly enjoy young adults ages 13-17 and 18+ who are pursuing education, new careers, or trying to get their feet wet with experience. Teens and young adults hold a special place in my heart because I want to provide a space that allows for positive self-growth and exploration as they navigate new responsibilities.

Specialities

  • Feeling overwhelmed, nervous, on edge? I hear you. I first want to acknowledge that you recognized these feelings. It is hard to name them, let alone allow ourselves to feel frazzled. I want you to take a deep breath and focus on your 5 senses. What do you hear? Smell? Taste? See? What can you touch?

Now, take another deep breath and remind yourself that it will be ok. We will get through this together and find ways to manage these chaotic thoughts or feelings.

  • Feeling run down lately? Maybe your passion is fizzling out or you don’t find enjoyment in your life anymore. You are not alone. Burnout is very high, especially in certain career or education fields.

Let’s talk and see why this exhaustion is creeping up now. We will explore where it may be coming from and how to combat it.

  • Seems like something new is going on and it is almost too much to wrap our heads around. That’s ok! Change takes time and is one of the scariest things we ever have to manage. You are not alone though. There is support available and you do not have to struggle with these changes alone.

  • Grief comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and fonts. There is no one right way to grieve the loss of something in your life. Grief doesn’t even have to be the loss of a person. It can be the loss of a dream or goal, the loss of a pet, grieving change, distress over a relationship - this feeling occurs everywhere. Grief shows up in bizarre ways too that we may not understand. Please don’t ever feel guilty for how you grieve or what you’re grieving. Instead, let’s process it together. Talking can be one of the most powerful and healing tools. It can also allow us to name something difficult and allow our brains to cope with this loss.

  • “Ugh, [people/school/work] stresses me out” - a very common and relatable phrase! How are you managing stress in your life? Are your stress-levels actually manageable or do you feel like you are drowning?

Do you feel like you are constantly forced to be “high-functioning” in order to get your tasks done? Do you feel pressure to people-please, which just adds to your plate? Consider exploring the stress in your life and where there may be wiggle room for positive change.
